
Abbeyfield House Society in Golden has accommodation space for 10 residents. Residents have their own personal suite with a full washroom and shared access to the common areas, making it a wonderful space to balance companionship and new friends as well as quiet independence.

- Electric heat with thermostat in your room
- Heat pumps for heat and cooling in each unit and your own personal remote
- Access to hot and cold water
- Breakfast bar & a cook supplies two hot meals a day
- Secured storage locker
- Secured outside doors with phone entry
- Access to in-house laundry facilities (self serve)
- A personal raised flower box and free use of the grounds and public spaces
- Access to a communal living room
Please note:
- Basic cable is an additional cost ($25/month)
- Residents can set up their own personal PO Box at the nearby post office, or can have their mail can be directed to the Abbeyfield House mail box. Mail is picked up regularly and delivered to the house.

Who Qualifies to Live at Abbeyfield?
Any senior ready to give up the responsibilities for management of a private home, and if you want companionship and prepared meals. You can be a local resident or a new arrival to the community. You must be able to live independently with assistance by friends or relatives, Home Care Workers can be arranged by residents if needed.
*If an individual has symptoms of memory loss or dementia, you must have a current assessment report by a doctor.
Staff at Abbeyfield are only available between 10 a.m. and 7 pm, therefore we are best suited for seniors who are able to manage their day-to-day lives independently, including:
- Mobility (independent, cane, or walker)
- Personal hygiene (showering, bathing, toileting, dressing)
- Health and medication management
- Appropriate behavior and self-care
- Driving or coordinating transportation to appointments
- Managing personal finances
- Able to maintain the safety of the House and others (cognitive skills)
- Able to care for themselves and handle emergency situations with a telephone and a personal Emergency Alert System

How to Apply to Live at Abbeyfield
If you are interested in living at Abbeyfield, please contact the house and we will connect you with the Residential Coordinator. From there, we’ll schedule and in person meeting, a tour of the House, and take care of the administrative paperwork.
All applicants must have two sponsors (both local if possible) as well as a physicians medical report. There is a 3 month probationary period for new residents.
