For many years, St. Paul’s Abbeyfield House Golden has proudly provided a warm, safe, and supportive communal home for independent seniors in our community.
As a nonprofit society and part of Abbeyfield Canada, we are committed to offering affordable housing where older adults can enjoy companionship, security, independence, and dignity in a caring environment.
Unlike many housing providers, Abbeyfield Golden does not receive government funding for day-to-day operating expenses. The ongoing costs of running our home are covered through resident rental fees and the dedication of volunteers who generously give their time and expertise.
In recent years, the cost of providing affordable senior housing has risen significantly. Employee wages, food costs, utilities, insurance, maintenance, and other essential expenses continue to increase, with no sign of slowing down.
At the same time, provincial rent controls and our own commitment to affordability mean we cannot simply pass these rising costs on to our residents.
We believe every senior deserves access to safe, dignified, and affordable housing — and we want Abbeyfield Golden to remain an accessible and realistic option for seniors in our community for generations to come.
Introducing the Affordability Legacy Fund
To help secure the future of our home, we are launching the Affordability Legacy Fund Campaign with a goal of raising $250,000 over the next five years.
This permanent fund will generate investment income that can help offset rising operating costs and protect affordability for the seniors who call Abbeyfield home.
